Create & Dance With The Royal Opera House

This event will launch an exciting project which explores the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child through the lens of Crystal Pite’s choreography, offering a powerful and creative way for pupils to engage with global citizenship and human rights themes through the dance medium. Following this, there will be a presentation of the work and outcomes at our English Hub conference in April. As an English hub, we are working alongside the Opera House to promote this event due to the positive impact it can have on oracy, writing and creativity in English.

This free CPD is part of the Royal Ballet & Opera’s award-winning Create & Dance programme, a curriculum-led teacher development programme designed for primary school teachers. Their team will take you through techniques for teaching dance and storytelling – developing your students' creative collaboration skills, physical learning, spatial awareness and general health and well-being.

 During this CPD training, you will:

• Learn practical, easy-to-implement warm-up and engagement activities.

• Explore the building blocks of dance and learn how to use them to meet PE curriculum outcomes.

• Discover different creative ways of applying dance across the curriculum e.g. in numeracy and literacy.

• Introduced to Create & Dance’s award-winning classroom resources.

The day is led by a team of Royal Ballet & Opera artists and is suitable for:

• Class teachers or subject leads

• Teachers who are new to teaching dance

• Teachers who are looking to brush up their skills

It features:  

• In person, full day, certified CPD training, suitable for class teachers or PE Leads - no experience of ballet or dance is needed.  

• Comprehensive classroom resources, including 5 lesson schemes of work Explore resources  

• Termly digital live lessons (suitable for KS1&2), featuring dancers from the Royal Ballet Find out more
