Pilot Overview
In line with the Department for Education’s commitment to strengthening literacy support, a new secondary pilot has been introduced to broaden the English Hub’s offer to include secondary schools. This initiative aims to provide targeted support for struggling readers, helping secondary schools to raise attainment and close literacy gaps.
Aims of the Secondary Pilot AY25-26
- To support secondary schools to take a whole school approach to reading
- To support secondary schools to improve outcomes for pupils with reading needs
- To increase knowledge on supporting reading in secondary schools
Participating Schools Will Receive
- A reading provision audit with tailored guidance
- Up to £3,300 in resource funding
- Potential intensive support days from Literacy Specialists
