Literacy Specialist Drop-In Clinics
An informal opportunity for you to meet one of our team online and ask questions about phonics/early reading. These are not structured delivery sessions.
The call will be live from 15:00 for the first 30 minutes which will be an opportunity for informal advice and discussions with one of the Cornerstone literacy specialists. The main input for the event will begin at 15:30.
The transition from key stage 1 to key stage 2 can often be challenging for learners – including in the realm of reading. Finding texts which meet both their interests and challenge point isn’t a simple task. In this network session we’ll discuss strategies we use to make sure every reader’s journey is a fulfilling one and one which helps them to move forward meaningfully.
This network meeting is a celebration of storytelling: offering educators the chance to learn how to host impactful author visits that captivate and inspire our learners. Discuss approaches to creating memorable experiences that not only encourage a love for reading but also enhance students’ literary understanding and creativity.

Explore the art of oracy with our ‘Speaking Volumes: Infusing Oracy into the Curriculum’ network session. This time, we’ll be seeking to integrate oracy skills into our teaching practices across the curriculum to develop this crucial life skill with our children. Engage with fellow professionals to share insights, techniques, and activities that foster students’ speaking abilities, ensuring they can express themselves confidently and effectively across all areas of the curriculum.
In this meeting, we’ll be discussing how to strengthen the collaboration between schools and parents. This important relationship can often be challenging to maintain, but makes a significant difference to children’s learning. This session provides a forum to discuss strategies and share resources that empower parents to become active participants in their children’s education, fostering a supportive home environment that complements classroom culture.
Come together with colleagues to consider our readiness for the phonics screening check. In this session, we’ll run through some ‘top tips’ in the runup to the screener and explore key practices to reinforce as we approach the assessment date. Let’s collaborate with our diverse insights and experience to set up every learner for success in these final weeks.
Embark on a literary journey with ‘Write On: Crafting Excellence in Every Word’, a network session tailored for teachers who are passionate about nurturing exceptional writing skills.
