Build an expert team: assessment, practice and coaching.

Leadership training

This training is essential for leaders in new Read Write Inc. Schools and is part of our new school Package. It is also an invaluable refresher for Reading Leaders in existing schools. It focuses on how to:
  • Introduce consistent learning behaviours across all lessons
  • Assess children’s progress
  • Group children effectively
  • Implement a cycle of practice and coaching
  • Coach teachers to become experts

Who is it for?

For headteachers and Reading Leaders. This training gives you the tools as leaders to get the most out of the programme.

26th February

Get to grips with graphemes: PSC.

Make sure every child can read accurately and succeed in the PSC

Our Targeted Training days focus on key areas of Read Write Inc. Phonics to deepen expertise and impact. Get the teaching right and the number of children who need extra support will fall dramatically.

This training focuses on PSC preparation. What will I learn?

  • To use half-termly assessment data and the sounds grid to target your teaching and make the biggest difference.
  • To make the most of every teaching step, building your expertise to teach Set 3 sounds so children hang onto those hard to remember graphemes.
How will I learn it?
  • Watching live modelling and in-action films
  • Practising every activity
  • Receiving on the spot coaching
Who is it for?
  • Reading Leader and Year 1 team
  • Open to all schools using the phonics programme
  • Ideal time: Spring 1 and 2 to build expertise ahead of the PSC in June
