Reading leader expertise is essential to reach every child in our schools and is one of the key priorities in Ofsted’s reading deep dives.

This year for graduated and partner schools funded by Cornerstones English hub we have 3 of our 6 leadership days for you to attend run by Leah Forshaw (RMT Consultant Trainer).

Day 1: Teach every child to read – Fast Track Tutoring – a day for the Reading leader and lead tutor to practice with and coach each other on the tutoring steps that will ensure that all children learn to read in your school.

Day 2: Get to grips with graphemes – a day for the Reading leader and Year 1 teacher to practice the activities that will make the biggest difference to children’s phonics screening check success. Time to plan how to maximise every opportunity for PSC success.

Day 3: Make a strong start in Reception – a day for Reading leader and the Reception class teacher to plan how they will accelerate children’s progress in Autumn 1.

All three days will have time for practice and coaching of key teaching steps that will make the biggest difference to children’s progress. There will be time built in throughout the days to lock-in key points and actions that will be implemented back in school.
