Following the success of this year’s Secondary Reading Pilot, the English Hub’s Secondary Support Programme will continue into the 2026–27 academic year. 

For many students, reading remains a significant barrier to accessing the curriculum. For some, these challenges are longstanding; for others, they emerge as texts and subject demands become more complex. This makes it essential for secondary teachers to have the knowledge, strategies and resources to support students effectively, in ways that are both age-appropriate and embedded within subject teaching. 

This programme is designed to meet that need, equipping teachers to support struggling readers with confidence and impact within the secondary context.
