Key Stage 2: 2026-27 Support Offer

Following the success of the KS1 and KS3 English Hub offers, the programme will continue into the 2026–27 academic year, expanding to include targeted support for Key Stage 2 reading. This will focus particularly on developing reading fluency and supporting pupils who continue to need support with decoding.

KS2 Programme Aims

• To ensure schools continue to identify and support pupils with gaps in decoding through SSP approaches
• To support schools in developing effective strategies to build reading fluency across the curriculum
• To improve reading outcomes at the end of KS2 and support a strong transition into secondary school

The Offer

KS2 Reading Audits

• A funded audit of KS2 reading provision, with tailored recommendations for development
• Focus on decoding, fluency, and whole-school reading strategy
• Identification of strengths and key areas for improvement

Intensive Support

• A bespoke, partnership-based programme tailored to each school
• Between three and six fully funded days with a KS2 Literacy Specialist to strategically develop KS3 reading provision with a focus on accelerating progress for struggling readers
• Partner Schools can receive up to £6,000 to support resourcing, training, and implementation, with schools encouraged to match fund and consider the long-term sustainability of their KS2 provision when planning how this funding is used
