Our networking events are free and are a blend of input on particular areas of phonics and early reading strategy and practice-sharing discussions, as well as an opportunity to build links with colleagues in the area. We offer remote attendance to these sessions with live streaming of inputs and specific online discussions.

Making great readers into great writers - 17th March
No child writes at a higher standard than they read, however it isn't a given that strong reading always translates into strong writing. This session will look at how to focus children who have been immersed in texts to become authors in their own right.

Making Accurate Assessments - 10th May
Any effective early reading strategy is underpinned by regular accurate assessment. This session will look at the way in which a school should approach cycles of assessment, both across a year or key stage, and on a daily basis.

How can schools collaborate with their feeder nurseries to best effect? How can schools with integrated nurseries use them to support the teaching of early reading? This session will give some practical thoughts on both of these questions
